How the Process Works at NancyEdits:
Complete confidentiality begins with our initial conversation or email exchange.
Concentrating on what you have to say about your project’s needs and asking questions will help me determine the best way to improve your work—I often ask to see a portion. After careful review I’ll provide you with my time/cost estimate, and there’s no fee or required commitment to this point.
Based both on your preference and project needs, I can estimate my services on a per-project, hourly or per-page rate. Of course, time/cost estimates increase with project complexity and a rush fee may apply for evening or weekend work.
If my estimate works for your budget and time frame, I then prepare an agreement requiring both of our signatures. My agreement outlines the work to be done, time and cost, and other topics. Then the work begins.

Project Strengths
Like every professional editor, I bring a unique set of assets to my work. Here are the ways I can best help you:
Abstracting — Preparing an objective synopsis, outline or summary of a document.
Copyediting or line editing — Checking for formatting, punctuation, spelling and usage errors. Correcting for clarity and consistent style. Creating a style guide or style sheet. Cross-checking special sections, such as ensuring that images match their captions.
Improving career tools — Résumé and professional profile creation; updating career tools and improving your online presence.
Localization — Adapting copy to achieve desired perceptions. For instance, copy written by developers based in a foreign country may need to be rewritten to work for your audience. This may include factors such as age or gender roles, geographic landmarks, currency or time zones.
Proofreading — Checking for the same errors as for copy or line editing, but without including style issues. Comparing your document or template with previous versions to see that all requested changes have been made.
Rewriting or substantive editing — Reworking an existing document to improve any number of factors like plot or marketability. Resolving major queries with an author or working with other contributors to develop a stronger draft.
Transcribing — Creating an accurate document from recorded or dictated content.
